Club Pathways

Together, We Can Pave the Way to Great Futures!

For over 50 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa has provided life-changing support for the young people of our community. Today, we serve 1,700 members a year, but we know there are many more young people we can guide to great futures. We also know our young people are more likely to succeed if they start their Club journeys early and continue throughout their academic careers.

Club Pathways is our future vision of growth that will:
  • Complete four paths in Des Moines so that kids and teens can progress from elementary through high school with the Boys & Girls Clubs by their side
  • Nearly double the number of youth we serve, from 1,700 to 3,300
  • Add three new Club sites and significantly expand two current Club sites

Phase I of our effort consists of two new Club locations at Drake University and East High School.

Gregory & Suzie Glazer Burt Club

This will be BGCCI’s first family Club, welcoming all students K-12 in a high need area of the community. This innovative model of a Club on a private university campus is only the third that exists in the country. The Burt Club will create and complete a new Central Path.

East High School Club

A new Club site at East High School will provide a safe, fun and supportive outlet for teens. This facility will complete the East Path for Club kids who previously attended the Levitt and Baker Clubs.

Phase II

Phase II will include a new Club at Studebaker Elementary, an expansion of the McCombs Club, and an expansion of the Ross Club.

Testimonials

"This an amazing project, one that will benefit both the Boys & Girls Clubs and Drake University, two institutions that Cathy and I care for deeply. This facility will allow for collaborative programming that will benefit Drake students and athletics and Boys and Girls Club members through teaching, mentoring and goal setting."

- Steve Lacy, BGCCI Trustee and Campaign Chair

"The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa stands on the verge of exciting growth and great accomplishments. In the spirit of my late grandfather and BGGCI founder, Ellis I. Levitt, and my mom and BGCCI trustee, Maddie Levitt, I look forward to being the third generation supporting both BGCCI and Drake University.”

- Suzie Glazer Burt, BGCCI Trustee and Campaign Honorary Chair

“ The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa serves a great need through their engaging programs and inspiring mentors for our youth. It begins in the elementary years, grows throughout middle school and is essential to high school success. The collective success of our continued development of this great community is dependent upon the strength of our Boys & Girls Clubs.”

- Mary Coffin, BGCCI Trustee and Campaign Chair

"All children are born with great potential, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa mission is to create opportunities for them to succeed. The Baker Family is proud to carry on my parents' legacy as founders of this organization to support our children in need. Now is the time to carry out our ambitious goals for the future.”

– BJ & Tiffany Baker, BGCCI Board of Trustees, Board of Directors and Campaign Chairs
