  Volunteer Opportunities with Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa


Concessions Volunteers
Do you enjoy athletic events? Volunteer with Boys and Girls Club of Central Iowa at Drake University! Volunteering for a 4 hour shift will get you into the session for free!

Students, at least 15 years of age, and adults are greatly appreciated! So get your friends together and volunteer! The Boys and Girls Club of Central Iowa has the following dates reserved for your help:

April 10 - USA Volleyball and Jim Duncan Relays
18-20 people are needed per 4 hour shift, shifts start at 7:30 am.

April 22 - Drake Relays
We need 6-7 people to work from 3-8pm

April 23-24 - Drake Relays
20-25 people are needed to work 4 hour shifts starting at 7 am.

May 20- 22 - Boys & Girls State Track
We need 15-18 people per shift, more details later.

June 23-27 - USA track and field championships
We need 15-18 people per shift, more details later.

Power Hour Tutor
Do you want to help support a child through his or her education? Boys and Girls Club of Central Iowa is looking for volunteers to commit to at least one hour a week, after 3:30pm, at all of our Club locations. Power hour is designed to assist kids, ages 6-18, with their homework, reading, educational board games and computer skills throughout the year. Caring and helpful volunteers would be greatly appreciated to assist a child with his or her education.

Tutor (one on one, need further help) individual kids

If you enjoy helping students with their school work, volunteering at First Christian Boys and Girls Club is the place for you! Boys and Girls Club is seeking caring, helpful, positive volunteers to assist a child one-on-one with his or her school work. A commitment of one hour a week, after 3:30pm, is necessary and greatly appreciated. Wouldn’t you want to help improve a child’s education and develop strong leadership and self-confidence!?

Powder-Puff Football Coach
Interested in the well-being of today’s children? First Christian Boys and Girls Club of Central Iowa wants you! By volunteering one hour a week, preferably 4:00-5:00pm, you can teach teenage girls how to play football. Helping young women achieve health, fitness and self-esteem goals can be very rewarding and will be greatly appreciated by the young women participating and the staff of the Boys and Girls Clubs.

Evening Tutors (dinner provided)

Improve a child’s learning, while decreasing your hunger! First Christian Boys and Girls Club is providing dinner for positive, motivated, dependable volunteers willing to mentor school-aged children. You can help develop students into positive and strong leaders 5:30-7:00pm every Tuesday!

Volunteer Internship Position AVAILABLE

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa, The Positive Place for Kids, seeks to serve several administrative interns for the remainder of the 2010 school year. Hours are flexible; some work can be done from home or school.

The following positions are available:
• Special events coordinator/support
• Grant researcher, mainly via internet/some phone calling
• Grant writer
• Website copy writer
• Marketing/donor support
• Graphic design
• General office support
